Along with millions of others across the country, we did our bit last week to mark 80 years since the Allied victory in Europe in 1945.
Our event was organised by our friends from “Catching the Past”, supported by local keeper-of-memories John Greenwood.
The event saw special displays hosted in our main gallery, covering everything from rationing and wartime recipes to child evacuation. Tables filled with photographs explored stories of wartime East Lothian, from battles in the skies over the Forth to local POW camps and agricultural innovations.
Our Jubilee Room was used to show a number of short films, music of the era filled the gallery, and our volunteers dined on a platter of spam sandwiches!
Thanks so much to everyone who helped make the day such a fitting and homely commemoration, of such a dramatic and historic occasion.
