The Jacobite army’s pre-dawn march was one of the key factors in their success at the Battle of Prestonpans.
We are currently undertaking a mixture of research and interpretation which will help us to understand and commemorate this important part of the story. It will also help the residents of the Blindwells new town, which covers a large part of this area, to understand what happened on their doorsteps in 1745.
The project aims to install several new interpretation markers, to help embed awareness within the new community, and to gain a clearer understanding of how the landscape has evolved.
