The entire 105m of The Prestonpans Tapestry is heading to Cockenzie, where it will be displayed in the recently renovated Auld Kirk on the High Street.
The former church has been purchased for the community’s benefit by Cockenzie House & Gardens, who are hosting the exhibition of the Tapestry over two weeks in May.
Running 12-4pm, Thursday to Sunday, from 7 May to 17 May 2026, this display offers a rare chance to see the whole Tapestry in the same room simultaneously.
In support of the exhibition we will be opening our own museum in Prestonpans on the same days, meaning that there are four more opportunities to visit us than usual! We will be open from 11am-4pm on each day that the Auld Kirk exhibition is running, giving visitors the chance to see the museum and discover the history behind the Tapestry before (or after!) marvelling at the embroidered panels themselves.
Entry to the Tapestry exhibition is by donation.
