Over the coming months, visitors might notice a few changes to our main exhibition at the Battle of Prestonpans Museum.

Whilst the overall layout and appearance will remain the same, we are refreshing a few aspects of our displays. Whilst some of the updates will barely be noticeable at all – such as improved environmental monitoring – others will hopefully enhance the visitor experience. These will include an improved display of archaeological finds and some loan items from outside collections. The most impressive change will be the arrival of an entirely new exhibition case later in the summer, which will increase our display capacity considerably.

The changes will be made incrementally, but they are already underway. The first visible alteration is the addition of two new replica uniforms to our stage area, so that there is now a private’s and an officer’s uniform from each army on display. As always, our volunteers are looking forward to showing you around!

These improvements are part of a project part-funded by Museums Galleries Scotland’s Small Grants scheme, for which we are incredibly grateful.
