In the spring of 2026 we were delighted to receive grant support from Museums Galleries Scotland and others, in order to undertake some important improvements around our museum during the summer.
Most of these changes are now in place, bringing our Enhancing & Monitoring our Galleries project to its conclusion ahead of schedule. Some of the changes are quite subtle, but others are more visible – all will enhance our displays and how we are able to care for them.
The highlight of the project will be the arrival of a new display case, which will allow us to bring more artefacts out onto display and to accommodate loan items from elsewhere to complement our own collection.
When you visit, look out for our new artillery info plinths, highlighting the important grapheshot pieces found on the battlefield; a new cultural legacy display; and of course our new ClickNetherfield display unit. We’ve also overhauled the interpretation in our stage area, and added a tablet to our Tapestry display so you can browse the panel stories with ease.
