On Monday 8 September, a group of our volunteers were welcomed to the Palace of Holyroodhouse thanks to the Royal Collection Trust’s community programme. We visited the wonderful learning facilities for a presentation about the palace’s Jacobite connections – and collections! – before spending some time exploring the palace itself.
The visit helped our team members to visualise the events leading up to the Battle of Prestonpans, and to follow in the footsteps of some of those who marched out to the battlefield. With beautiful sunny weather to accompany us, our volunteers found the visit very rewarding. Our thanks to Fiona and Annie for making us so welcome.
